Raurkela’s Vaishno Devi Temple is a significant illustration of India’s exquisite range of religious shrines and people’s faith and believe towards one universal power. Apart from being a revered shrine by locals, the temple has also achieved a distinguished position in the minds of tourists.
Maa Vaishno Devi Temple is situated around 3km away from the city centre on top of Durgapur Hill. It is said to be built on the lines of Vaisno Devi Temple of Karta in Jammu. The temple was built in 2003 to host the presiding deities namely, Goddess Kali, Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati.
The temple is systematically managed by Vaishnodevi Temple Trust, which offers various facilities and arrangements for visitors to ensure a hassle free darshan. Its surrounding greenery, bordering hills and soothing vistas delight the devotional minds to a great extent. From here one can also get a bird eye view of Rourkela Township.
